Exploring the World of Printmaking through
our Contemporary Area Printmakers

As in many other areas of art, our region's printmakers are exceptional, representing diverse styles and approaches to the traditional methods of creating fine art prints.

This show has an educational component that will teach the differences between the Four Great Divisions of Printmaking: relief, intaglio, planography, and serigraphy.

Featured artists are Ann Dergara of Brevard, Boyd Saunders of Chapin, Steven Chapp of Easley, Carl Blair, Phil Garret, Mark Mulfinger, and Harrell Whittington, all of Greenville; and Jim Creal, Pat Kabore, and Andrew Blanchard of Spartanburg.

Doug Whittle

Paintings and Prints

In contrast to his landscape paintings which examine man's relationship with nature, Whittle's prints often reflect his interest in human relationships on a personal, and sometimes historical, level. His tongue-in-cheek looks at those relationships, explores their earnestness, often shedding some humility on our "edge-of-the-millennium-now-we-know-everything" attitude.
