about the show ... The Spartanburg County Museum of Art is proud to present the Fourth Biennial Hub City Juried Art Competition. Artists understand that their art reflects the culture in which it is created. Here in Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina we are fortunate to have a rich history that is a culmination of many different cultures. As we move forward into the future with and through the creation of new artwork, The Museum has sought ways to remind area artists of the rich history that is a part of their creative foundation. We chose to use Spartanburg’s former nickname “Hub City” for the historical significance of its reputation as a railroad hub at the turn of the century. As Spartanburg continues to experience revitalization and growth, and as we prepare to move into a new facility, the Museum of Art will continue to strive to provide a cultural hub for area artists and residents that is worthy of our predecessors’ collective vision and inspiration. NOTE: Currently we are accepting hand-delivered entries only. If you would like for the Museum to mail you a prospectus, please click here.NOTE: please include your mailing address. We are not currently providing prospectuses online. |
