Dear Artist,

Because this year’s 41st Annual Sidewalk Art Show on October 6th is coming on the heels of our move to the Chapman Cultural Center, SAM’s resources are stretched to the point where we’re having to cut back on some of the normal activities associated with this event. This year, SAM will NOT hold the Juried Component of the show.

Instead, for this year only, The Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg will organize artwork to hang on the fence in a noncompetitive format. Guild members whose membership is current, will be able to display 2 pieces of artwork of their choice (as usual, some restrictions apply). Guild membership is open to artists who reside in Spartanburg, Greenville, Laurens, Union, Cherokee, Polk and Rutherford counties. Annual dues are $30 which may be paid the day of the show. For any works sold, a 40% commission will be collected to benefit the Guild. For more information, contact Gibson Smith at 486-8994 or at gibsmith@innova.net.

SAM WILL have Vendor Booth spaces for artists. A 10’x10’ booth space is $100. Vendor Booth Artists will be responsible for setting up their space and no commission on sales will be charged. The Art School @ SAM will provide free art activities for children and demonstrations for the public including painting, pottery, mixed media, and jewelry-making. We anticipate over 10,000 people in attendance for both the Sidewalk Show and The International Festival, so this is a great opportunity to show and sell your artwork. For more information or to reserve a space, please contact Nathan Galloway in the Museum Office at 582-7616 or office@spartanburgartmuseum.org.

We look forward to seeing you,
The Spartanburg Art Museum
