Robert Woods was born in Tanzania and raised in Thailand until the age of 20. He credits his early interest in ceramics to his exposure to various arts and craft forms as well as his participation in boy scouts where he learned to love playing with fire. He attended Fullerton College and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University. Before coming to SAM, Robert worked for Kohler Co. as a ceramics engineer where he specialized in glaze and color development. In the beginning of 2016 he began teaching ceramics for SAM’s COLOR’s program and is now the Ceramics Studio Manager and an instructor for the Art School.
