CLAUDE CRONEY was a well-known and influential watercolorist who authored numerous books on watercolor painting techniques. He was a member of the Guild of Boston Artists, the Boston Watercolor Society, the Providence Watercolor Society, the New Haven Paint and Clay Club, and the Connecticut Watercolor Society. He exhibited coast to coast, and was listed in Who's Who in the Arts.
This watercolor of the well-known Spartanburg landmark, the Baber-Rhyne Drugstore, was executed on location in about 30 minutes as a demonstration for a week-long watercolor workshop that Croney gave for the 9th Annual Exhibition of the South Carolina Watercolor Society.
