This class presents the fundamental techniques for working with stained glass using the copper foil method. A historical perspective of stained glass use and information about architectural displays will be presented. Technical instructions and demonstrations include glass cutting techniques, assembling and soldering, safety tips, pattern making, selecting glass, and information on various tools (cutters, grinders, smoothing stones, ring saw, etc.). Students will construct and finish one or more projects in glorious color!!
Tools and scrap glass will be available for student use during class. The only supply required for class is solder which can be purchased locally at Hobby Lobby. A basic tool kit for $75 will be available from the instructor for those who would like to work on projects at home.
