about the event

Bear witness to the immigration experience through Petition for Entry: Canciones Sobre Inmigración, a multi-genre reading featuring Latinx writers Leslie Sainz, Mariam Johanan Estrada, and Juan Gonzalez.

All too often, inflammatory political rhetoric aims to dehumanize those who risk their lives to come to this country in search of safety, freedom, and opportunity. Petition for Entry: Canciones Sobre Inmigración seeks to combat such division through the belief that educated dialogue among diverse people can spark and sustain cultural understanding and empathy. After each author shares their creative work, the event will feature a town hall-like discussion, in which audience members are encouraged to share their own relationships to the topic of immigration.

This event is FREE and open to the public. All ages admitted.

Light refreshments will be served.

This event is generously sponsored by Bagwell Fence, Santo Lubes, Susu + George Dean Johnson Jr., Margaret + George Nixon, and Kerin Hannah.
